DESCRIPTION:

National Arts and Humanities Month is a nationwide observance held each October to celebrate and promote the arts and humanities. It has four main goals: to bring attention to the arts and humanities at the national, state, and local levels through the media; to encourage individuals and arts, humanities, and other organizations across the country to take part; to give business, government, and civic leaders at every level a chance to declare their support; and to create a visible way to raise public awareness. The month also recognizes the role the arts and humanities play in telling a community's stories, encouraging creativity and free expression, and supporting the economy by creating jobs.
