DESCRIPTION:
Filipino American History Month, which the U.S. Congress formally recognized in 2009, is observed in October each year to honor Filipino American history, culture, and contributions. October commemorates the first recorded arrival of Filipinos in the continental United States, when Filipinos landed in what is now Morro Bay, California, on October 18, 1587.
